The month of July is a special month for Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. In the Catholic Church, the month of July is traditionally dedicated to the devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus.
During this month we intensify our love for the sacrifice of Jesus and proclaim the power of his blood to heal and strengthen our lives. During this month we do this by praying the Litany of the Precious Blood, learn more about the devotion, and have special events to celebrate the month. We also set up the “fountain of mercy” in front of the altar as a reminder to us of the love that Jesus has for every soul.
The devotion of the precious blood is one of the oldest devotions of the Church. It is also the bedrock on which this parish was founded from its beginning. The life of the parish could be said to be centered on the Precious Blood of Jesus throughout the year, not just during the month of July. The parish hears the call of the important mission to spread this devotion. This is reflected deeply in the spiritual vision statement of the parish which is “Saved by the Blood; Called to Mission.”
