Season of Advent

Dear Family,

We are beginning the season of Advent. This always feels like a time for “new beginnings”.  It is the beginning of the new liturgical year, and it is the season where we prepare for the birth of Jesus.  We prepare for the joy of Christmas.  Advent is a time where we intensify the spiritual life and sharpen our focus on the true center of our life. Where is the center of our life?  What does my life revolve around?

Advent is an important time to go to confession.  This allows us to look closely at our soul and seek the mercy of God for what draws us away from God.  It allows God to wash away any sins that are stuck to our soul.  We always have our normal confession time before the Saturday evening mass.  I will also be in the confessional every Thursday at Precious Blood from 5:30-7:30 during Advent.  There are usually communal penance services with individual confessions in Dubois County.  This year is different because of social distancing.  More times for individual confession are now being offered all around the county.  Don’t miss this sacrament, and how it heals the soul.  Make this Advent a “new beginning.”

Many prayers for all, as we prepare our hearts during this holy season.

Christ’s Peace,

Fr Brian
